About Feock

Feock is a coastal village and civil parish in Cornwall’s South West, in postcode district TR3. Sitting about five miles (8.0 km) south of Truro, it occupies a sheltered position at the head of Carrick Roads on the River Fal. The parish is framed by water: to the south lies Restronguet Creek, to the east Carrick Roads and the River Fal, while Kea parish borders it to the north and Perranarworthal parish to the west. This compact arrangement of creek, river and estuary gives Feock a distinct maritime character and a close relationship with its surrounding waterways. Approaching along the lanes, the village reveals itself as part of Cornwall’s intricate coastal tapestry, quietly defined by tides and channels. Its proximity to Truro makes Feock accessible while remaining unmistakably coastal — a clear example of village life where river meets sea.

The chain ferry that crosses the Fal between Feock and the Roseland Peninsula is one of only six remaining chain ferries in England — and one of the most beautiful settings in which to find one. The ten-minute crossing saves a twenty-mile detour and provides a brief, unforgettable glimpse of the wooded, tidal Fal in its unspoilt upper reaches.

Occupying a promontory above the Fal estuary, Trelissick's twenty-five acres of garden combine formal planting with ancient woodland and spectacular estuary views. The mild microclimate — warmed by the Gulf Stream — allows camellias, rhododendrons and tender exotics to thrive in abundance. The woodland walks to the water's edge, with the King Harry Ferry passing below, are among the loveliest in Cornwall.
