About Polmear
Polmear is a hamlet in Cornwall, sitting on the A3082 close to Par Sands and the village of Par. The settlement straddles two civil parishes—part in Fowey and part in Tywardreath and Par parish—placing it within easy reach of the coast and nearby communities. The centre of Fowey lies some 3 miles (4.8 km) away, while Par railway station is less than 1 mile (1.6 km) from Polmear, making short journeys straightforward. Historically, the place was known as East Polmear; West Polmear became Charlestown when Charles Rashleigh built the harbour there. Polmear’s location on a principal road and its close links to Par and Fowey give visitors a simple, well-connected base from which to explore this stretch of the Cornish coastline and its neighbouring villages.
