Seventeen miles of traffic-free cycling and walking along the disused Bodmin and Wadebridge Railway, the Camel Trail is one of Britain's most popular recreational cycling routes. The trail follows the Camel Estuary from Padstow through Wadebridge to Bodmin, passing through woodland and estuary scenery of great beauty. Bike hire is available at both ends.

The mile-long wooded approach to Pencarrow House, lined with ancient rhododendrons and passing an Iron Age earthwork, is one of the finest drives in Cornwall. The formal gardens around the house include a Victorian rockery, an ice house, and a collection of over 700 different species of rhododendron. The grounds are open freely when the house itself is closed.

A handsome Georgian country house still owned and lived in by the Molesworth-St Aubyn family who built it in the 1760s. The house's greatest treasure may be the mile-long approach through ancient rhododendrons and pre-Roman earthworks, but the house itself — with its fine furniture and portraits — and the restored Victorian gardens are equally rewarding.
