About Bodmin Jail

Cornwall's nineteenth-century county gaol, built to replace a medieval predecessor, now operates as a heritage attraction and hotel. The dramatic granite structure housed both debtors and criminals, and public executions outside the walls drew enormous crowds. The heritage experience includes the original cell blocks, the execution pit, and chilling exhibits on the prison's history.
