About Eggbuckland

Eggbuckland is a suburb of the city of Plymouth, in the ceremonial county of Devon. Once a small village a few miles north of Plymouth before the Second World War, it changed as the city was rebuilt. In the postwar reconstruction many new suburbs were created and a new estate appeared within one mile to the south‑east of Eggbuckland. During the 1970s the areas in between and around the old village were developed, and the whole district is now commonly referred to as Eggbuckland. Sitting within the City of Plymouth in the South West and in the PL6 postcode district, the area retained a sense of its village origins even as it expanded. The development of the A38 just to the south in the 1980s further transformed the neighbourhood, making it a popular choice with commuters. Today Eggbuckland offers a quietly suburban feel with visible layers of history, from its village past to the postwar and 1970s estates that now define the area.
