About Helford

Tucked on the south bank of the Helford River in west Cornwall, Helford is a picture-postcard village in the civil parish of Manaccan. Nestled within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it sits around five miles (8 km) south-southwest of Falmouth and offers a serene riverfront escape. In 2020 Condé Nast Traveler rated Helford among the "20 most beautiful villages in the UK and Ireland," and the character here is easy to understand: a cosy village pub, a handy village shop and an active sailing club anchor daily life. The river is central to the village’s appeal — boats drift past and a pedestrian ferry shuttles visitors and locals between Helford and Helford Passage daily from Easter to October, making the opposite bank feel just a short, scenic hop away. Whether arriving by water or road, Helford feels like a gentle retreat, where harbour-side walks, simple amenities and a sheltered estuary set the pace for a calm Cornish visit.
