About Lamorna

Lamorna is a village, valley and cove in west Cornwall on the Penwith peninsula, approximately 4 miles (6 km) south of Penzance. The place became popular with artists of the Newlyn School — including Alfred Munnings, Laura Knight and Harold Knight — who were drawn to its landscape and coastal light. That artistic legacy remains part of Lamorna’s character, offering a gentle invitation to pause, explore and take in views that once inspired painters. Lamorna is also known for former residents Derek and Jean Tangye, who farmed land here and wrote "The Minack Chronicles," works rooted in their life in the area. Whether you come to wander the valley, visit the cove or follow the traces of creative lives, Lamorna reveals a close connection between everyday living and artistic endeavour. It is a place where history, nature and creativity meet, making it a quietly rewarding stop on any exploration of west Cornwall.
